Overview
Founded in 1942, the Association of Advanced Rabbinical and Talmudic Schools (AARTS) is an organization that represents and accredits a group of Jewish institutions that focus on advanced Talmudic and Rabbinic studies. The AARTS Accreditation Commission is the branch of the organization responsible for reviewing and accrediting these schools.
The AARTS Accreditation Commission evaluates the academic programs, faculty qualifications and institutional resources of each school to ensure that they meet the organization's standards for advanced Talmudic and Rabbinic education. The AARTS Accreditation Commission evaluates both undergraduate and graduate programs, leading to associate, baccalaureate, master's, doctorate, First Rabbinic, First Talmudic and Intermediary Talmudic degrees, which must meet educational standards similar to those set by the 6 main regional accrediting agencies. The AARTS Accreditation Commission also monitors compliance with accreditation standards over time and makes decisions regarding the accreditation status of each school.
Accreditation by AARTS is recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation and the U.S. Department of Education (USDOE) and is an important credential for schools seeking to establish themselves as providers of high-quality advanced Jewish education.
