The majority of higher education institutions meeting the uniRank selection criteria are located in the prefectures of Tokyo, which hosts the capital and largest city of Tokyo, Osaka, Aichi, Hyogo and Hokkaido. The following uniRank sub-rankings or league tables take into account all prefectures which include at least 2 Japanese higher education institutions meeting the uniRank selection criteria.
