  • being chartered, licensed or accredited by the appropriate Bulgarian higher education-related organization
  • offering at least four-year undergraduate degrees (bachelor degrees) or postgraduate degrees (master or doctoral degrees)
  • delivering courses predominantly in a traditional, face-to-face, non-distance education format

2021 Sub-rankings by provinces New

The Republic of Bulgaria is divided into 28 provinces (Bulgarian: oblasti) which are further subdivided into 265 municipalities (Bulgarian: obshtini). The vast majority of higher education institutions meeting the uniRank selection criteria are located in the Sofia City province (Bulgarian: Sofia-grad) which is situated in the west of the country and hosts the capital Sofia. The following uniRank sub-rankings or league tables take into account all provinces which include at least 2 Bulgarian higher education institutions meeting the uniRank selection criteria.
