Overview

The National Education Association (NEA) is a professional organization in the United States that represents public school teachers and education support professionals. It was founded in 1857 and currently has over 2.3 million members. The NEA advocates for public education, promotes professional development for educators and works to improve the quality of education for students. The organization also advocates for issues such as teacher pay and benefits, school funding and education policies at the local, state and national levels. The NEA also operates a number of programs and initiatives to support educators and improve student learning, including the NEA Foundation for the Improvement of Education and NEA Member Benefits.
