Established in 1903, the Universidad de Puerto Rico (University of Puerto Rico) is a non-profit public higher education institution located in the urban setting of the medium city of San Juan (population range of 250,000-499,999 inhabitants). This institution also has branch campuses in Aguadilla, Arecibo, Bayamón, Carolina, Cayey, Humacao, Mayagüez, Ponce, Río Piedras and Utuado.
