Established in 1721, Universidad Central de Venezuela (Central University of Venezuela) is a non-profit public higher education institution located in the the urban setting of the large city of Caracas (population range of 1,000,000-5,000,000 inhabitants). Officially accredited/recognized by the Ministerio del Poder Popular para Educación Universitaria, Ciencia y Tecnología, Venezuela (English: Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology of Venezuela), Universidad Central de Venezuela (UCV) is a very large (enrollment range: over-45,000 students) coeducational higher education institution. Universidad Central de Venezuela (UCV) offers courses and programs leading to officialy recognized higher education degrees such as undergraduate certificates/diplomas, bachelor degrees, master degrees, doctorate degrees in several areas of study. This 295 years old HE institution has a selective admission policy based on entrance examinations.
