Founded in 1991, University of Petra is a non-profit private higher education institution located in the the suburban setting of the large city of Amman (population range of 1,000,000-5,000,000 inhabitants). Officially accredited/recognized by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Jordan, University of Petra (UOP) is a medium-sized (enrollment range: 6,000-6,999 students) coeducational higher education institution. University of Petra (UOP) offers courses and programs leading to officialy recognized higher education degrees such as bachelor degrees, master degrees in several areas of study. This 25 years old HE institution has a selective admission policy based on students' past academic record and grades. The admission rate range is 60-70% making this Jordanian higher education organization a somewhat selective institution. International students are welcome to apply for enrollment. UOP also provides several academic and non-academic facilities and services to students including a library, housing, sport facilities and/or activities, financial aids and/or scholarships, study abroad and exchange programs, as well as administrative services.
