Overview

Established in 1854, the ETH Bereich (ETH Domain) is a group of technical-scientific universities and research institutes managed by the Swiss Confederation.

It includes the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich (ETHZ), the École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL/ETHL), the Paul Scherrer Institute (PSI), the Swiss Federal Institute for Forest, Snow and Landscape Research (WSL), the Federal Materials Testing and Research Institute (Empa) and the Federal Institute for Water Supply, Wastewater Treatment and Water Protection (Eawag).

The governing body of the ETH Domain is the Council of Swiss Federal Institutes of Technology (ETH Board, formerly: Schweizerischer Schulrat ).
